Welcome to the Fourth Grade!!
Fourth grade is a GREAT year! I am going to do everything I can to help you learn and grow as a student. Your job will be to come here in September ready to do everything YOU can to be the best student you can be. Wait until you see what you can accomplish when you really TRY YOUR BEST.
As for this summer, you are expected to have fun and enjoy yourself, that's for sure. But, it really does make a BIG difference if you keep your brain working during the summer as well. So, I do ask that you do a few things for me to keep your skills sharp and get your brain ready for 4th grade.
Here's what you can do to start off on the right foot:
1. Complete your Summer Homework! This was handed out on Move Up Day but if you lost it, click here to see the assignment page. Links for the Online Book Review and the Math Fact Practice Page are below, too. They are also on the Home Page. Math fact practice is VERY important to starting the year strong!
2. READ! Read, read, read! There are so many good books out there so please don't force yourself to read a book that is BORING. Choose one that you can really get INTO! It doesn't have to be a chapter book. It can be a book about an athlete you look up to, a celebrity you like, a hobby or activity you like to do. It can be about rocks, volcanoes, or dogs....your choice! But the important thing is that you try to start becoming a READER. That is the best way to get yourself ready to be an amazing student. I can't wait to share my love of books with all of you! **REMEMBER: Choose books that you can "read the way you talk". If you have to stop, sound out words, or read it slowly with a lot of pauses, then hold off reading that one. You will GET INTO the books that you can READ THE WAY YOU TALK. That is very very important to becoming a better reader.
